NY Bridal Market Oct 2012

A much overdue post! It was our first time at New York Bridal Market Oct 2012 and it was a real experience, where we were one of the first to see the new Fall 2013 collections by our designers and more. Here are a preview of the new collections and we also picked up a few new designers! More on that to come!

At Temperley, the Florence 2013 collection was floaty, ethereal and elegant, a Temperley signature. We overheard one of the photographers for an established bridal magazine saying that this was the absolute best collection that they have seen across the designers!

At Amanda Wakeley Sposa’s booth, we picked out gowns for our trunk show (held at the end of October and it was a success!). Classic, simple and luxurious. Amanda Wakeley’s gowns are versatile and could easily be worn for at a beach setting or a formal New York wedding. These were the crowd favorites at our trunk show.

At Badgley Mischka, the duo drew inspiration from the heavens, naming their gowns after planets and zodiac signs. The gods were certainly looking out for them as the collection presented was simply divine. Slender and full gowns were both featured, with dramatic embroidery and elaborate beading being a connecting force.

David Fielden updated his classic Grace Kelly gown, replacing the tulle skirt with a simple satin sheath skirt. This will no doubt be a hit at The Prelude Bridal, following in the footsteps of the Grace Kelly gown.

And last but not least, our favourite designer Junko Yoshioka whom we had the pleasure of meeting and chatting to at her workshop. An soft-spoken, sweet and pleasant lady, we can’t wait to see more of her, hopefully in Singapore! Again, the collection showed off her signature style of using unusual fabrics, sourced twice a year from France.

This is an amazing full beaded sheath gown… perfect as an evening gown for a dramatic entrance.

One thing we noticed from all the designers was the presence of lace, long sleeves and more lace. A testament to the effects of the Royal Wedding and the Duchess of Cambridge’s style on both designers and brides. So if you are a bride-to-be and you love lace, you will be spoilt for choice when the new collections hit the stores. The Fall 2013 collections will be arriving at The Prelude Bridal in March 2013. Mark this down in your diaries!

We leave you with this final image. My absolute favorite shot from Bridal Market!

A (Tiffany) Blue weekend… and more

It was a busy weekend at The Prelude Bridal, with two events back to back (and two weddings slotted in the middle).

First up, “A Lifetime of Brilliance” at Tiffany & Co’s Marina Bay Sands store on 29 October. Hosted by Female Brides editor, Steve Thio who looked extremely dapper in his jacket, it was an afternoon of discovery. Attendees discover edTiffany diamonds, the most beautiful symbol of true love, and explored Tiffany jewels and gifts.

Models Kate, Ella and Douvle strolled through the audience wearing bridal and evening gowns from The Prelude Bridal. Each had their look completed with a stunning set of jewels from Tiffany & Co and hair/makeup by makeup guru Tinoq Russell Goh.

Ella was the “dramatic” bride, with a patterned organza modified mermaid gown with mesh organza flounced ruffles on the bodice and skirt by Junko Yoshioka. Her look was paired with a long string of pearls, perfect for the fashionista bride.

Kate went for the “vintage” feel in her Jean gown by Temperley London. Temperley’s best seller was a hit with the crowd!

Douvle on the other hand, was “modern” in her sweetheart bustier gown by Junko Yoshioka with a clean finish and simple a-line silhouette.

Ella changed her look and was now a “romantic” bride in a bustier tulle ball gown with fern head inspired beading scattered throughout by Junko Yoshioka.

A final look at the lovely models.

Floral decor by Fiore Dorato; rumballs, cupcakes and pastries by Antionette and Pine Garden.

Tune in next for more on our in-house event!

Spring 2013 Bridal Trends — The Back

April 2012 saw the ushering of the Spring 2013 bridal collections of key designers at NY Bridal Market.

Trend #1 — The Back

Last season’s sexy backs returned for Spring 2013 with a romantic and demure attention to delicate embroideries, lace frames, and peekaboo keyholes. Alice Temperley’s “Ophelia” collection is the epitome of the “romantic” back.
